Parent Promise, an Oklahoma City non-profit whose mission is to prevent child neglect and abuse, recently received a grant from the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Oklahoma City for training and curriculum for the organization’s programs.

Parent Promise works with 150-170 families each year providing in-home parent education and support. Trained parent educators work with parents one-on-one on effective parenting practices, basic child safety and health care habits and help them understand the developmental stages of child growth. Parent support services also emphasize teaching parents how to put their children on a course for success in school by providing age-appropriate educational materials.

The Boeing Employees Community Fund is managed by local Boeing employees. All contributions collected through the fund stay in the local community to support Oklahoma non-profit organizations.

“We are so appreciative of the support of Oklahoma’s Boeing employees for our mission to prevent the neglect and abuse of children through parent education and support,” said Sherry Fair, Parent Promise executive director. “These funds will allow Parent Promise to expand our home visitation services to serve more families and provide healthier childhoods for Oklahoma children.”

Parent Promise is the Oklahoma Chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. The organization provides home visiting services in Oklahoma County and advocacy and education about child abuse prevention statewide.
