Parent Promise works with families with children from 0-12 in helping them learn to provide a positive home environment for their children. The mission of Parent Promise is to prevent child abuse or neglect by providing education and support.
“Most parents want to provide a safe, loving and nurturing home for their families,” Fair said. “However, some families need a little help, and that is what we are here for.”
Parent Promise provides trained parent educators to work with 150-170 families each year. Families receive scheduled home visits where they are mentored on child development, basic baby and child health care, positive parent-child interaction, as well as family goal setting and monitoring.
“Parent Promise provides opportunity and hope and helps build resiliency in families,” Fair said. “We help families become more self-sufficient and less dependent on state services.”
Parent Promise, a 501 (c) 3 organization, was founded in 1988 as the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Oklahoma. The organization later merged with Prevent Child Abuse Oklahoma and changed its name to Parent Promise.
